My HealthQuest: Week 8 and proud to be partnered with Thriftsmart!

Today is day 2 of the 8th week! 5 weeks to go, but not really as I hope to continue on after the 12 weeks are up. I think for me last week was the most difficult so far. I had a day or two when I got a little disappointed with my progress. After I put it all in perspective, my attitude changed and I am motivated again. You see, I need to keep retraining my brain that it is not about weight loss or gain, it is about so much more. It is how I feel after pushing myself to the limit, how I feel stronger and just better overall. It is about lifestyle changes which I have to keep reminding myself take awhile to become a habit! My favorite thing about the last 2 Fridays is when we play ultimate frisbee. After working so hard 4 days in a row, it is great to play a game that is fun, yet we are still running around and getting the benefits of exercise. As women, how many times do we just get out there and do that? We always watch our kids and husbands play games and sports, but I'm not sure how many of us still do that! Well it is FUN!

Being a part of Healthquest has been great and I am proud to be partnered with Thriftsmart. Thriftsmart is a thrift store business that was created with a mission to fund charities. They help with 4 local charities: New Hope Academy, African Leadership, Mercy Children's Clinic and the Belieze Project in Nashville. If you ever have clothes, etc. that you are no longer needing, remember Thriftsmart as you know you would be helping a worthy cause!

I can't believe we are half way through week 4!  This week has been really challenging, but it is
great to see how far we have all already come.  I know we are all pushing ourselves and doing
a workout that would have been impossible in week one.  I feel myself getting stronger and much more aware of what I am eating.  Healthquest is helping in so many ways.  Between the workouts, Carter's encouragement, meeting with the nutritionist and finding out our results on our body composition, cholesterol and glucose levels I feel we have so many tools in place now to achieve
great results!

Week One at D-1

What a first week! I did not know I could get that sore. I was sore in places I didn’t know I even had muscles! Working out that hard really felt good though. I’ve always enjoyed exercising, but I have gotten in the habit of doing the same old thing, at the same old pace....and I quit getting results long ago. Working hard and pushing myself really felt good. It is fun to do it with a bunch of great women, with a great trainer, Carter. Working with a group is motivating. We all cheered each other on, and as it was the first week, we were all getting to know each other. By the fourth day, the soreness subsided and I was able to get more done at home because I could move again! It was a great first week and I am excited about everything. Getting healthy is the key. As they always say, when you have your health, you have everything! I rested on Saturday, but missed it by Sunday and worked out on my own. I’m ready to start the second week!
